Frequently Asked Questions

🐝 Does hosting or sponsoring a hive support biodiversity?

Not directly — and we think it's important to be open about that. Honeybees are a managed species and not at risk of extinction. While they play an important role in pollination, hosting a hive doesn’t automatically improve biodiversity. In some sensitive ecosystems, too many hives can even compete with wild pollinators for resources.

That said, small-scale, responsibly managed beekeeping can still contribute positively by:

  • Promoting awareness of pollinators and food systems
  • Encouraging planting for pollinators and pesticide reduction
  • Providing a visible sustainability initiative with tangible results (like your own branded honey)

We’re not here to greenwash — we’re here to offer something meaningful, engaging, and rooted in best practice.

🌿 How much space do I need to host a hive?

Not much at all. A single hive takes up about the same footprint as a small outdoor table or garden bench. What matters most is the location: sunny, sheltered, and away from heavy foot traffic.

We’ll assess your site and recommend the best placement to ensure it's safe for both bees and people. If your space isn’t suitable, sponsoring a hive at one of our apiaries is a great alternative.

🍯 Do we get our own branded honey?

Yes — and it's one of the best parts! Whether you host or sponsor a hive, you’ll receive jars of honey harvested from the bees you support, customized with your business branding. Perfect for client gifts, employee hampers, or sustainability campaigns.

🐝 Is it safe to have bees on our premises?

Absolutely — when managed properly. We only install hives in safe, suitable locations, away from busy walkways. Honeybees are naturally non-aggressive when undisturbed, and we work with calm, healthy colonies. We carry full public liability insurance and handle all beekeeping ourselves — you won’t be expected to lift a lid!

🧠 Can we visit our sponsored hive?

Yes! We’re happy to arrange visits to your sponsored hive during the beekeeping season — ideal for team-building days or CSR initiatives. If you're too far away to visit, we'll keep you updated with seasonal photos and hive progress reports.
